Ingredients composing any of Santa Barbara Chocolate products were reviewed for their compliance to regulations where they are sold.


In the USA ingredients will comply to any one of these categories:


  1. Standardized food ingredients, (CFR 163 Cocoa Products, CFR 131 Milk and Cream Products)
  2. Food additives: CFR 172, 173
  3. GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe for their intended use); CFR 182, 184 (Affirmed GRAS)
  4. Flavor substances 21 CFR 101.22 and FEMA GRAS
  5. Color additives, 21 CFR Parts 70, 71, 73, 74, 80 and 82
