In accordance with the United States Department of Agriculture National Organic Program all organic products must, by law, be created only with non-genetically engineered (non-GMO) ingredients and processes. All organic products distributed by Santa Barbara Chocolate Co. are in compliance with the USDA National Organic Program and are non-GMO. Our organic chocolates are made using 100% Cocoa with no additives. Chocolate liquor has no additives. Organic natural cocoa powder has no additives.
All of the Santa Barbara Chocolate Co. premium couverture chocolate products are created only with non-genetically engineered (non-GMO) ingredients and processes.
Our couverture chocolate manufacturing sites maintain GMO-free production. All soy lecithin used in production is produced from non-GMO soybeans under the Non-GMO Standard for Traceability and Identity Preservation by Natural Food Certifiers. Under the Non-GMO Standard for Traceability and Identity Preservation manufacturers have to demonstrate capability to produce non-GMO products and compliance with European Regulation (EC) No. 1829/2003 and 1830/2003 about traceability and labeling of genetically modified organisms and the traceability of food and feed. The non-GMO status of our soy lecithin is validated through regular audits, and supported by sampling and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing.
Products manufactured are not subjected to GMO labeling under the Regulations 1829/2003/EC and 1830/2003/EC concerning the traceability and labeling of genetically modified organisms and the traceability of food and feed products produced from genetically modified organisms and any amending regulation.
