Perfect Chocolate Ice Cream

On a hot summer day, have you ever had cool chocolate ice cream that was completely perfect, exactly the way you wanted it? Was it freshly made from only whole, organic ingredients with nothing else added? Well, this delightful dessert does not need to stay in your imagination when you create it yourself. Making ice cream at home, adding the chocolate to your own customized perfection is easier than most people think.

For You, By You

The beauty of making your own ice cream is that you are never limited to anyone else’s idea of what ice cream, or for that matter chocolate, should be. You can test and tailor your creation until it lives up to your highest standards. And when you want variety, a change of pace is as easy as selecting from your favorite kinds of chocolate and adjusting or mixing the flavors as much and as often as you want.

Simple to Make

Ice cream is easy and fun to make. Following a simple recipe, you just need basic ingredients that you’ll tend to have around the house anyway: milk, cream, eggs, sugar, and of course, the chocolate. If you want some fresh strawberries in there for variety, who’s to say no? Some people think that you need an “ice cream machine” to make your own at home, but here is the real secret. Grab a small bowl, put it inside a large bowl, and pow! You just designed your own DIY ice cream machine. The trick to making it work is to always have a fair amount of salt and plenty of ice. A mini ice maker will fit anywhere you want it to go and saves a lot of time and effort when you need more ice than your tiny freezer trays will allow you. Fill the space between the large and small bowls with plenty of ice, sprinkle salt all around, avoiding the inner bowl and top off with water. The salt with the ice super-cools your liquid water to below freezing. As you whip up your ingredients, the chilled sides of the inner bowl (a thin, metal mixing bowl works best) will freeze the ice cream, and you get to decide how firm or soft you want it.

Endless Possibilities

Perfect for summer parties, or for just treating yourself on a hot day, throwing together your own home-made chocolate ice cream means you never need to settle for someone else’s idea of deliciousness. Indeed, fashioning your own custom flavors means that it will live up to your own unique idea of perfection.
